Twelve Episode 5 Review

Episode Five opens with Wool preparing medicine while Kangji urges her to hurry as Malsu is waiting. The team is getting ready to leave for camping, but tension rises when Kangji calls Maro, who is discussing Mir’s dreams and warns him to avoid dreaming too much. It is revealed that their chief is absent, having traveled to the Philippines with the team to track down a gang boss who fled with money.

At the campsite, Wool’s cooking is poorly executed, leading to scolding from the others. Mir arrives, questions Wool about the preparation, and refuses to take the medicine, advising it be given to Doni instead, as he might need it later. Mir then experiences a dream where many of their comrades perish.

The episode flashes back to the final scene of Episode Four, where a powerful spirit attacks Malsu and Doni. Despite Doni drinking the medicine and becoming stronger, he is defeated until Malsu helps by striking the spirit with a stick. Meanwhile, another spirit encircles the heroes, and a long fight ensues without much success from the heroes, with Gamsung worsening. Just then, Tyson arrives, fights the spirits, and defeats them.

At Angel Capital, Samin arrives with his people. Wool attempts to fight using her arrow but is soon subdued by Samin’s magic. Mir also uses her powers to kill some enemies but is overpowered and knocked unconscious by Samin’s magic. In a museum, two spirits examine stones, finding a third one. Ogvi arrives at Samin’s location but notices Mir imprisoned in a nearby jail.

Tyson and others bring the injured Gamsung to Angel Capital in search of Wool for treatment but find the place in disarray and Wool unconscious. Upon awakening, Wool informs Doni about the situation. Doni reveals that Samin brought his people and kidnapped Mir, possibly as a distraction tactic to isolate them. Maro urges caution, warning against rushing into action to avoid alerting the enemies and losing Mir. He instructs Wool to treat Gamsung, but the poison is spreading, and the local herbs are ineffective.

Wansang proposes opening Hell Mouth to gain power to heal Gamsung, but Maro refuses, fearing it would endanger the world. Later, Maro leaves in a vehicle, observed by Wansang. Mir, still imprisoned, recalls past scenes and is subdued again by Samin’s magic. Ogvi appears, and the three stones are placed before him. Wansang discusses seeing Ogvi with Samin and wonders about Vajag’s location, stating it’s guarded by a magic door. Maro’s whereabouts become uncertain, prompting concern.

Doni learns Maro went alone to confront the situation and rushes to Tyson for help. Meanwhile, Ogvi tries to awaken Heath’s soul to steal his power, while Mir’s Dragon Stone is revealed. Samin uses dark powers involving his blood to summon black energy. Maro tracks down the magic door, successfully opens it, and enters. Flashbacks reveal a past romantic connection between Ogvi and Mir. Samin attempts to harness the stone’s power fully while spirits surround Mir.

Maro confronts spirits inside, demonstrating his staff’s powers: vanquishing spirits, creating more beings like himself, and an unknown third function he uses when bored. A fierce battle ensues, with Maro burning and banishing spirits. Samin attacks Maro and claims he now wields Ade’s power, allowing him to open Hell Mouth, a long-awaited moment for him.

Ogvi recalls a past near-death moment where Mir tried to save him from Tyson’s attack but failed. Tyson prepares to kill Ogvi, but Maro intervenes, reminding Tyson of their purpose. Maro reveals he erased Ogvi’s memories of Mir to protect him and handles Ogvi himself. Maro then confronts Ogvi, condemning him for his sins and trapping him in the mountains instead of killing him outright.

The episode ends with this confrontation, setting the stage for Episode Six.
